Open position
Drone Pilot Flight Operations (all genders)
You are responsible for the safe flight operation of our autonomous surveillance drones: from the SORA-based operational authorisation and on-site setup to day and night operations.
The role
Our drone surveillance protects industrial sites, construction sites, logistics areas and critical infrastructure. The drones launch from docking stations, fly scheduled, randomised or alarm-triggered patrols and analyse their footage with AI. neonotu is registered as an operator with the German Federal Aviation Office (LBA). Every site needs its own operational authorisation in the specific category, and that is where your work begins.
You are the person who makes sure every flight is permitted, planned and safe. You prepare authorisations, set up new sites, monitor ongoing operations from the control centre and step in when something does not go to plan.
What you will do
- prepare operational authorisations in the specific category: SORA risk assessment or PDRA, operations manual, emergency procedures and coordination with the LBA
- assess sites on location: airspace, UAS geographical zones and flight restrictions (dipul), obstacles, ground and air risk, landing areas for the docking stations
- obtain exemptions and approvals, for example for flights over industrial facilities, in control zones, at night or beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS)
- commission new sites: install docking stations, set up flight routes and geofences, run and sign off test flights
- monitor ongoing operations from the control centre, respond to alarms and incidents and take manual control when needed
- keep flight logs, maintenance records and occurrence reports in order and report events as required by law
- organise maintenance of drones, batteries and stations and handle smaller jobs yourself
- brief customer security staff and contacts, and develop our procedures further with the product team
What you bring
- EU proof of competency A1/A3 and EU remote pilot certificate A2
- hands-on flight experience with multicopters, ideally in commercial use such as inspection, surveying or security
- solid knowledge of EU drone regulation (Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947) and German aviation rules, in particular the open and specific categories and UAS geographical zones
- knowledge of SORA, or the willingness to get up to speed quickly
- technical understanding of radio links, GNSS, batteries and sensors, including thermal cameras
- willingness to undergo a background or security check, as required by operators of critical facilities
- a driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites in Germany
- willingness to work evenings, nights and weekends as part of an on-call rota
- business-fluent German and good English
Nice to have
- experience with operational authorisations in the specific category or with standard scenarios (STS)
- experience with BVLOS flights, night flights or docking stations
- an aeronautical radio certificate (BZF I or II)
- a background in manned aviation, the police, fire service, armed forces or security services
- experience with quality or safety management in flight operations
What we offer
- responsibility for a growing flight operation and a say in procedures, equipment and new sites
- work in Munich, with assignments at our customers' sites
- full time or part time
- training on authorisations, BVLOS and new technology, paid for by us
- short paths to management and a direct line to the developers of our AI
